Rebecca Schillenback Rebecca Schillenback, Administrative Director
Rebecca has recently returned to early child care and education after several years of traveling and farming in far-flung places, from India to Kentucky and back home again. She holds a master’s degree in educational theater from New York University and permanent New York State elementary education teaching certification. She lives in Brooktondale with her husband and sons, and is excited to both farm and teach. Rebecca spent two years in The Nest and is now making sure that both classrooms run smoothly.
Lynn Craver Lynn Craver, Lead Teacher, preschool program
Lynn has been a lead teacher within our organization for 8 years. She is beginning her fourth year in the CNS classroom. Previously, Lynn was the head teacher at The Nest, where she began at its inception in 2004. She has worked in the early childhood education field for 16 years as a toddler teacher’s assistant and an infant teacher at IC3 and as a preschool music teacher and toddler teacher at Washington Market School in Manhattan. Lynn holds a bachelor of music degree in vocal performance from Ithaca College and has a child development associate’s certificate. She brings her beautiful voice and musical talents into our classroom each and everyday.
Jennifer Rohwedder Jennifer Rohwedder, Lead Teacher, toddler program
Jennifer has a B.S. in Teaching and an A.S. in Early Childhood Education. This will be her second year in the Nest. She came to New York after three and a half years working as the Head Teacher in a toddler classroom at Hildebrandt Learning Center at Glenmaura Corporate Center in Pennsylvania. She loves spending time with her two-year-old daughter. She is a warm and engaging presence in the classroom.
Flo Scaglione Flo Scaglione, Assistant Teacher, preschool program
"Mrs. S" has been with CNS for over twenty years. She has a gentle and loving touch with our children and has been the consistent thread holding together and nurturing Community Nursery School throughout the years. Mrs. S brings years of wisdom to our program, but also thoroughly enjoys training to inspire new ideas.
Lauren Frederick Lauren Frederick, Assistant Teacher, preschool program, toddler program
This is Lauren’s third year at CNS. She is a graduate of Ithaca College and taught at the Roosevelt Children Center in Newark, NY for two years prior to coming to CNS. Lauren has a calm mannerism and a willingness to find what makes each child comfortable and able to thrive in the classroom.
Jessi Binder Jessica Binder, Assistant Teacher, toddler program
This is Jessi's first year at CNS. Previously, she was an elementary school art teacher in Washington, DC. She holds a master's degree in art education from George Washington University and a B.F.A from Boston University. She recently moved to Ithaca with her fiance and is thrilled to join The Nest.
Hannah McConnell Hannah McConnell, Teachers' Aide, toddler program
This is Hannah's first year at the Nest. She has a BA in Sociology and experience working with young children as an after school care teacher, day camp counselor, and volunteer mentor in Oklahoma. She loves working with children and embraces every opportunity to help them learn, engage, and grow!
