Supplemental Programs

The main program at CNS runs from 9am to 12pm, but we also offer various supplemental programs beyond those hours. These programs provide more opportunities for children to enjoy their time at school, and offer families greater flexibility in their day-to-day schedule.

Early Drop Off

Early Drop Off (EDO) is offered Monday through Thursday, from 8:30-9am. This enables parents with a busy schedule to start their child(ren)’s school day a little earlier. Each classroom (the Nest, Nook, and Roost) hosts their own EDO, so students can start the day in their own room. Some parents find it is helpful for their child to enter a more peaceful, slow-paced environment in the morning. You may sign up for EDO permanently or a la carte style.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is an afternoon lunch program, offered Mondays through Fridays from 12-1pm. Students bring their own packed lunch from home to enjoy after some extra gross motor play. Nest students eat in the Nest classroom, while Nook and Roost students eat in the Roost classroom. Many parents find Lunch Bunch to be a helpful experience when preparing for the Kindergarten transition. You may sign up for Lunch Bunch permanently or a la carte style.

Lunch Bunch schedule:

  • 12:00 - 12:20   Gross Motor Play Time
  • 12:20 - 12:30   Bathroom Break
  • 12:30 - 1:00   Lunch Time
  • 1:00   Pick up

Three to four times a year, CNS offers a variety of Enrichment Classes. Enrichment classes are small group lessons led by one or two teachers that address fun, extracurricular topics. Some examples include Zumba, Circus Yoga, Storybook Theatre, Pottery, Science Lab, and much more! Enrichment classes run 1-1:45pm, one day a week for 6 weeks. Parents usually choose to sign their child up for Lunch Bunch if they are participating in Enrichment.

Extended Day

Extended Day is an afternoon napping program, running Mondays through Fridays from 12-3pm. CNS provides each student with a cot and personal sleeping bag to make quiet time cozy and comfortable. Teachers play relaxing music and circulate the room, reading to each student and helping them fall asleep. For children who are unable to fall asleep, quiet activities are provided.

Any student enrolled in the morning programs (Nest, Nook, or Roost classrooms) is welcome to apply for a space in Extended Day. If your child is a Nest student, they must be a napper to be accepted into this program.

Extended Day schedule:

  • 12:00 - 12:20   Gross Motor Play Time
  • 12:20 - 12:30   Bathroom Break
  • 12:30 - 1:00   Lunch Time (students bring their own packed lunch from home)
